In a letter to Kilgour School's principal Angela Cook, executives from Renaissance Learning, Inc., creators of the Accelerated Reader program, said that students using the program at Kilgour read an average of 458,921 words each and have taken an average of 21 quizzes each. This makes Kilgour a standout on a national level for its impressive achievement in student reading practice.
"You should be very proud," the executives told Cook. "It's clear your school has made a commitment to the importance of reading practice — a vital building block for students' overall academic achievement. It's this kind of performance and dedication we'll be looking for when we evaluate schools and districts this fall for our national reading achievement awards."
Congrats to Kilgour!
