Ethel M. Taylor Academy was selected as a winner of the 2011 Community Schools National Award of Excellence by the Coalition for Community Schools. The award honors schools that have deep and purposeful partnerships with other organizations that are well-integrated in the life of the school; strong family and community engagement; financial sustainability through leveraged resources; and engaging instruction.
Martin Blank, director of the Coalition for Community Schools, said in a letter announcing the award, "Our review panel received many excellent applications this year, but your school rose to the top. The focus on achieving results for all young people, the wonderful partnerships and the focus of engaging families and the community is a testament to the strong foundation and dedication that Taylor Academy has built around its community schools strategy."
Taylor Academy will be officially recognized during a presentation in Washington, D.C., that takes place this week. Congratulations to the staff and students!
