Several incoming freshmen from James N. Gamble Montessori High School were among the first students to visit the Civic Garden Center's new Green Learning Station on August 9. During their visit, they enjoyed several hands-on activities to learn more about how storm water affects our city's sewer system and how water moves differently along the various kinds of pavement installed around the Green Learning Station. The students also learned different methods for composting and worked in groups to design and build compost bins.
Gamble Montessori provides its students with strong academics and extensive opportunities to learn outside of the classroom. Teachers are looking forward to bringing other students, such as the Environmental Studies class, to the Green Learning Station in the near future.
