Rockdale Academy's students will get ongoing lessons in financial management thanks to the launch of the school's new PNC Student Bank, which teaches the value of saving, how compound interest works and the basics of personal finance. The lessons are delivered through fun, first-hand experiences in operating a retail bank, including role-playing opportunties as a bank teller.
The program is funded through a grant from The PNC Foundation to The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County and United Way's Success By 6.
During the launch of the PNC Student Bank, students were visited by characters from Sesame Street. Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind Sesame Street, produced a multimedia bilingual financial education activity kit which will be part of the overall financial education strategy.
