SCPA Student Productions to be Featured at Cincinnati Fringe Festival

Congratulations to SCPA's Katie H. (grade 12) , Zach K. (grade 11) and Alexx R. (grade 12), whose shows have been accepted into the FringeNext 2012 series of the Cincinnati Fringe Festival. Their productions will be performed during the first weekend, June 1-3.

SCPA partners with the Fringe Festival to provide a performance space for FringeNext shows. The students' productions will take place in the school's Black Box Theater.

Katie and Zach's production is called Blown Up. Alexx produced You Have 25 Minutes to Complete This Essay.

The students attended workshops led by Fringe artists and staff in April to learn about all the aspects of producing a show, and also will serve as volunteers at other festival events. FringeNext is aimed at fostering high school performers and providing a training ground for aspiring theater professionals. The Cincinnati Fringe Festival sponsors the only high school Fringe Festival in the country.

And, while you are at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival, be sure to check out A Hands Guide to the Apocalypse, which is directed by SCPA faculty member Gina Kleesattel and was written by alumnus Ben Kleesattel.

Cincinnati Fringe Festival runs May 29-June 9 in various venues in Over-the-Rhine.
