Walnut Hills Student Wins Girl Scout Gold Award

Congratulations to Meredith B., a 10th-grader at Walnut Hills High School, for receiving the 2012 Girl Scout Gold Award, which is Girl Scouting's highest honor. She won the award for re-creating a rain garden in a neglected area near a walking trail in Amberley Village.

Meredith teamed up with the Village Beautification Committee and connected with The Ohio State University to borrow equipment for testing the site. Thanks to her efforts, the community again is enjoying this area and can learn abouut how a rain garden works. The Village Beautification Committee has agreed to maintain the rain garden.

In a congratulatory letter to Meredith, Superintendent Mary Ronan said, "Your outstanding accomplishment is a tribute to your dedication and hard work, and we are proud that you received this award while a student here in Cincinnati Public Schools."

Congratulations, Meredith!
