VSA Ohio (VSAO) announced that the Academy of World Languages (AWL) has been selected to participate in the Adaptation, Integration and the Arts (AIA) Residency program this school year. Teaching Artist Jeri Gatch will work with multiple educators to design an inclusive arts residency for 5th-grade students that integrates dance and mathematics academic content areas.
AIA partners teaching artists and educators in inclusive classrooms to enhance teaching and learning through an arts-integrated residency and curriculum. All residencies are academic content standards-based, utilize Universal Design for Learning strategies, and include adaptations for learners of all abilities. Residencies range across all art mediums and grades, from PreK-12. The primary goals of AIA are to improve academic achievement; better prepare students for life, work and post-secondary education; and better prepare educators to support learning and inclusion for students with disabilities.
