CPS High School Girl Scouts Troops to Host Shoe Collection Drive

0

Girl_scoutsGirl Scouts from Walnut Hills High School and the School for Creative and Performing Arts will host One Stop Drop — a shoe collection, small appliance recycling and paper shredding event to benefit students in CPS elementary schools. The event takes place on Sunday, May 19 from noon to 4pm at Amberley Village Green, 7801 Ridge Road (between Section Road and Galbraith Road).

Members of Troop #46943, Troop #48716 and Troop #48124 will collect, clean, sort and distribute the shoes as part of a community service project. Shoes that cannot be cleaned will be ground up by the Nike Corp. and made into outdoor playground mats.

The Girl Scouts are looking for all kinds of women's, men's and children's shoes, including dress shoes, snow boots, workboots, athletic shoes and sandals. The dress shoes from this collection drive will be donated to ballroom dancing programs in Cincinnati Public Schools, while the athletic shoes will go to Rockdale Academy and other schools with needs.

Donors may also bring old electronic equipment, computers and small appliances for recycling by Cohen Recyclers. Free confidential paper shredding will be done by Shred Safe/Omaha Paper Company.
