“Run with the Knights for the Tower” is a 5K race/walk to benefit Mt.
Washington School and raise funds to upgrade the lighting on the school’s historic water tower and landmark.
The 5K race/walk is scheduled Saturday, October 5, 2013, at 9 a.m. The course
starts at Stanbery Park located on Oxford Lane and ends at Mt. Washington
School, 1730 Mears Avenue. Registration: $25 for adults 13-and-over; $15 for

T.P. White & Sons is a major event sponsor, along with Mt. Washington
Savings Bank but more supporters are needed at varying levels: $1,000, $500,
$250 and $100 with sponsor benefits.
Post-race celebration will include food, refreshments, an awards ceremony,
music and free massages for race participants. Sponsors will host information
and education booths. Mt. Washington School will open its door at 10 a.m. so
the community may learn about the Community Learning Center, meet school
partners and conduct a self-guided tour of the school.
Mt. Washington School was
established in 1870 and is one of Cincinnati Public Schools oldest schools. CPS
aims to support student achievement while revitalizing the neighborhood and
making room for community use. Recent renovations were completed in 2012 an
include a media center, computer and science labs, multi-use gym and
auditorium, art and community rooms.
The Mt. Washington Tower was built in 1933 and is an example of Art Deco
architecture. A schoolhouse stood where the water tower is today. The Tower, located on Campus Lane between
