Cincinnati Public Schools today launched an official mobile app designed to enable parents, students, staff and the broader community to stay informed about important issues, information and activities under way within the school community. The free app can be downloaded for Apple iOS and Android devices. Visit http://launch.customschoolapp.net/cps/ or search for "Cincinnati Public Schools" in the Apple Store or Google Play Store.
Developed in partnership with SchoolMessenger, the new app will provide families with 24/7/365 access to calendars, lunch menus, news, social media and more. New information feeds will continue to be made available in the app over the coming years.
“Our new, official mobile app empowers everyone in the community to stay connected and up-to-date on the information that they want and need directly from their mobile device,” said Janet Walsh, director of Public Affairs. “It’s another great example of our commitment to communication, as we know that in order for families to get involved in school activities and functions they must first be informed of them. We are excited about how our new app will help us communicate more effectively, and hope it leads to a stronger, more connected school community overall.”
Highly secure and flexible, the district’s new app is built on a communication platform that permits it to manage and share content easily. Key features include:
- Severe weather notifications and other alerts
- District and school-based news
- PowerSchool student information system
- District calendar
- Daily breakfast and lunch menus
- Social media posts
- Important contacts
SchoolMessenger will manage hosting and technical updates, and provide 24/7 support.
