Imagine becoming immersed entirely in an Arabic culture. Learning to adjust to a different language, different food and a different way of thinking can be a challenging process for most people.
However, this was the realized dream for four students from the Academy of World Languages (AWL) when they flew from Cincinnati to Bemidji, MN, to attend Al Waha, the Arabic language immersion camp sponsored by Concordia Language Villages. The four students have been studying Arabic with Ms. Chana’a since enrolling at AWL. The two-week camp allowed them to put their language skills to use as all staff (counselors to kitchen workers) communicated only in standard Arabic.
