Taft Information Technology High School started a new after-school program focused on web development. Under the supervision and direction of teacher C. Beamon and Michael Beck of the West End Community Council, the students are introduced to the design, creation and maintenance of web pages and websites. They are learning how to critically evaluate website quality, how to create and maintain quality web pages, and how to create and manipulate images.
The students already have interviewed their first web client and are working on plans for their first website.
The program aims to give students the skills and project-based experience they need to compete for web design and development careers, as well as generate income while still in school.
