Students and parents came together for a night of food and games at Mt. Washington School, in partnership with Beech Acres. The Family Fun Night is designed to bring school families together.
“We host Family Fun Nights to bring our families into the school to get to know one another and have a good time,” says Ilene Hayes, resource coordinator at Mt. Washington School. “Families get a chance to do fun literacy and sport activities, spending time together in a fun setting. These events really strengthen the sense of community.”
After a dinner of fruit, salad and sandwiches, families were tasked with a scavenger hunt around the first floor of the school. Each room featured different activities, from jump rope and basketball to word searches and Scrabble.
When the families completed the scavenger hunt, they got to take home a board game suitable for the child’s age group.
Mt. Washington is a neighborhood school and Community Learning Center that offers the magnet college-preparatory curriculum for grades 4-6, and has earned a strong reputation for high academic achievement.
