Keshawn Townsend, a 10th grader at Aiken New Tech High School, is one of just 150 students worldwide selected for the Second Annual International Congress of Youth Voices Summit, a five-day conference occurring this August in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Student delegates were chosen based on their commitment to leadership, social justice and their passion and eloquence as writers. The event is designed to provide a path to leadership for all delegates and represents a continuum of students – from those who have exhibited potential in local writing and tutoring programs to writers and activists who already have made notable achievements at a young age.
To be considered, Keshawn submitted a video sample of his writing, explaining why he writes, what drives his passion for writing and the topics about which he writes.
