Much ground was covered at Silverton Paideia Academy’s fourth annual Digital Leadership Day – including the last town hall meeting of the year.
Town hall meetings at Silverton Paideia are fully led and facilitated by students. As a Leader in Me school, tenets of leadership are seamlessly folded into their culture, creating a learning environment that keeps dialog open and encourages students to discover their shared purpose while engaging one another’s individual talents.
Parents and guests enjoyed special song-and-dance performances, and sixth graders recognized and shared special achievements, sentimental well-wishes and memories with their fellow peers advancing to different high schools.
A special guest speaker attended, too.
Damon Frost, director and chief information officer for beauty brands at Procter & Gamble, jumped at the opportunity to speak at his nephew, Deon’s, school. As a former Silverton Paideia student himself – and Walnut Hills High School graduate – Frost’s discussion at what would be several students’ last town hall before high school came just in time to make a lasting impression.
He emphasized that the skills students learn at Silverton Paideia are helping to secure a future in tech, lauding the importance of their school’s Vision 2020 focus of Digital Leadership.
“A lot of the skills that I developed that made me successful at Walnut Hills and at The Ohio State University and, now, in my current role at P&G, I learned from this school,” Frost shared.
And, of course, everyone in attendance took home some P&G swag – Olay moisturizer and Old Spice deodorant – compliments of Frost.
