North Avondale Montessori (NAM) students rocketed into the spotlight when they sang at the Greater Cincinnati Business Hall of Fame Laureate Induction Ceremony. The event, held in the Cintas Center at Xavier University, brought in more than 1,200 audience members and recognized several local businesspeople for their professional success and roles in the Cincinnati community.
The NAM choir kicked off the evening with a rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner, directed by Music Director Wesley Barnfield. Barnfield was “thrilled” by the opportunity and was in high spirits following the recital. “Our students did a fantastic job with the song. They worked hard on perfecting our National Anthem, and I am very pleased with their performance,” he shared.
Choir members also escorted the five inductees onto the stage for their awards. One student described the moment as a “great honor,” and said that she also “enjoyed singing in front of the group.”
The decision to participate in the event was a no-brainer for Principal Roger Lewis, who said he “knew this would be a terrific experience.” Principal Lewis was proud and excited that his students could perform at such a prestigious event and be on the campus of Xavier University.
Principal Lewis also took the time to recognize the parents who drove their children to Xavier for their evening performance.
“Not only did Mr. Barnfield do a remarkable job teaching our students the Star-Spangled Banner, their voices were beautiful,” he added.
